NDIS: Respite Tips

Exploring new destinations and ticking off your bucket list, Safe Transport Australia helps to facilitate fully-supported, memorable trips for young adults. Whether it’s a day trip or a weekend getaway, our accessible itineraries ensure a fun-filled experience for all.

All respite trips are covered by the NDIS, including all expenses such as meals and accommodation.

Everybody deserves a holiday - while individuals are adventuring new sights, their families also have the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved time off from their full-time caregiving duties. It’s a win-win all around!

New adventures. New friends. Lifelong memories.

Jeremy put a lot of time into ensuring my husband and I were kept in the loop even though our son is in his 20’s now. His clear communication is something we really appreciated

  • Whilst we predominantly facilitate trips in Melbourne and throughout Victoria, interstate (and even international) trips can be organised upon further discussion.

  • The type of accommodation chosen can vary considerably, depending on the trip destination. However, to give you an idea, we generally like to book Airbnb or serviced apartments as they tend to be more spacious (with a bigger kitchen to practice some cooking!)

  • The entire respite trip will be covered by the NDIS, including the support worker’s accommodation and meals for both! The only out-of-pocket costs incurred would be personal purchases such as souvenirs.

NDIS: Group &
Social Activities

Helping you to build your confidence and sense of belonging in relaxed social settings, we offer group activities for teens and young adults.

Unlike the majority of larger agencies, My Pit Crew is dedicated to connecting you with like-minded mates who share similar interests and hobbies as you. Varying from 1:1 to 1:3 settings, we also keep our groups small so you feel comfortable being yourself!

No pressure, no pretences, just mates having fun.

  • Yes, especially if they’re already part of our team!

Support workers from other organisations will be able to join us for initial sessions until you settle in.

  • Depending on the activity, there will likely be some out-of-pocket costs for certain activities or meals. If applicable, all expected costs will be capped at a limited amount and clearly communicated prior to the session.

  • Sure thing! You’re welcome to bring them along for a sessional fee of $30 and any other out-of-pocket costs.

“My Pit Crew has been such a refreshing change from the larger agencies we’ve worked with. The level of care and support we’ve received has been really appreciated!”
